The Start of Our Journey

Since this is the first blog that I have ever written, I thought it very fitting to start at the beginning of the Jackson Journey. On a very hot Tuesday in July (the 27th to be exact), Brock and I were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. No words that I can say will be able to adequately describe the joy that I felt after leaving the beautiful temple married to my best friend. . . but this picture sure does comes close.

We both felt extremely blessed to have the support of ALL of our friends and family on our special day! No amount of heat (95+ degrees in the dry Utah heat) or distance (Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Minnesota, California) kept them away and we are truly grateful all of the love that we felt.

I would feel ungrateful if I didn't mention that one of the most tender moments of the day for me was discovering that our temple sealer was a cousin of my Dad's. This was not something that we had planned, and so this tender mercy brought to my realization how close the temple brings both heaven and earth.

With our one year anniversary quickly approaching, it's hard to believe how fast time really does fly (and yes I feel old admitting that)! It's been an amazing first year and I can't wait to continue on our journey together for the many, MANY years ahead!

Park City Get-Away

With all the craziness that school and work brought into our lives, I had been begging Brock for a little getaway just for us. We both finally took a much needed day off of work and the two of us went up and stayed the evening in Park City. Despite the fact that Park City during the start of May is not the happening place it is during the ski and summer seasons, this retreat was just what we both needed! We spent the evening walking along main street (although nearly everything was closed) and then hot-tubbing in the 6 jacuzzi tubs at our hotel.

The next day I convinced Brock to walk up and down Main Street again (his other less appealing option was to walk around the park and he decided the shops were more exciting than a football field), and he was nice enough to humor me with a few more pictures. We then ventured up to the Olympic Venue and decided that once they had the water ski jumps going we'd come back and watch. We ended the day shopping at the outlets and stuffing ourselves full at the Ruby Tuesday salad bar. . . the perfect end to a perfect little get-away!
